Mesenchymal stem cells are reported to exist all over the human body and are a promising tool for regenerative medicine. Our research group focuses on stem cells extracted from body fat (adipose tissue derived stem cells; ASCs) which are ethically uncritical. There is no need to propagate adipose tissue derived stem cells in cell culture since a reasonable number of these cells can be harvested from a little amount of fat.
Imagine loosing body fat by liposuction to treat a disease with your own stem cells. This is not just a figment of controlled imagination - it's the future of personal cell based therapy.
Using cutting edge technology of molecular biology we investigate the clinical use of ASCs for various diseases at our 'Applied Stem Cell Research Center'.
